Worthing Half Marathon

Today was the Worthing Half Marathon, and my first race for a while but also my longest race. Training went to plan and I rested up well for the event so I was recovered and ready to take aim at my 2 Hour target. Fortunately/Unfortunately I was asked to attend the 6 Nations Rugby match between England and Wales at Twickenham with corporate hospitality and as a massive rugby fan I couldn't refuse! I knew I would be drinking a fair amount and tried to ensure I kept pace with plenty of water throughout the day, and to be fair didn't drink that much (for a Rugby match).

Waking up this morning was a different matter, didn't feel amazing, poor sleep and a moderate hangover meant the run was looking to be more difficult than planned. That said, I got to the race and prepared myself and thought I wasn't too bad. About 1 km in, a stitch came on and lasted all the way around. The course was pretty flat, but very windy which made it tricky but certainly helped the final 3 km sprint to finish.

Final chip time, 1:59:48 so achieved my target and pleased with the result; next time no drinking before!
